1. Introduction

Research Quality Lab (RQL) provides AI-assisted research review, post-publication review, academic polishing, translation support, reviewer workflows, certificates, journal workspace tools, and scholarly collaboration services.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use RQL.

2. Information we collect

3. How we use information

4. AI processing

When you request AI-assisted services, extracted text and related metadata may be sent to an AI provider to generate the requested output. This may include manuscript text, abstract, title, review type, language preference, and document type.

RQL uses AI processing to provide the requested service. You should not upload documents or data unless you have the right to process them through the platform.

5. Document privacy and public visibility

Uploaded full manuscripts are not public by default. Public visibility usually applies only to information you intentionally publish, such as Real Reviewer Board listings, public paper pages, public profile details, abstracts, reviewer-board requests, and selected certificate metadata.

For PPR and reviewer workflows, some metadata such as title, abstract, review type, paper link, Paper Quality Score status, and reviewer-board status may be displayed where you choose to list or publish the record.

6. Reviewer and collaboration data

If you volunteer to review or collaborate, your name, email, affiliation, qualification, expertise, academic profile link, CV/profile document, reviewer message, and application status may be shown to the request owner or authorized workspace users.

Public display of reviewer information depends on platform settings, profile visibility, and the specific workflow involved.

7. Payments and credits

RQL may use payment processors such as Flutterwave or other supported payment providers to process payments. Payment processors may collect and process payment information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

RQL may store payment references, transaction status, purchased credit amounts, credit transfers, service entitlements, and certificate entitlement records for accounting, access control, and support.

8. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data only where needed to operate the service, including with AI providers, payment processors, email delivery providers, hosting providers, technical support tools, or legal/regulatory authorities when required.

9. Data retention

We may retain review outputs, profile data, certificates, payment records, credit records, and workflow records so users can access them later and so RQL can maintain service continuity.

Uploaded files may be retained for processing, user access, audit, support, or workflow continuity. Older files may be removed during maintenance or cleanup.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data, including secure password hashing, session controls, role-based access controls, spam checks, and access restrictions for sensitive workflow areas.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. Users should keep login details private and avoid uploading documents they are not authorized to process.
